Medicare Advantage clients have until March 31 — when the Medicare Advantage open enrollment period (MA OEP) ends — to make a change to a Kaiser Permanente Medicare Advantage plan. Until then, clients enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan can choose to switch plans for any reason. Note: After March 31, Medicare beneficiaries who want to enroll or make a change can only do so if they are in their initial coverage enrollment period or if they are eligible for a special enrollment period (SEP), like the 5-Star SEP. Otherwise, they must wait until the fall annual enrollment period (AEP).
Who’s eligible for the 5-Star SEP?
The Kaiser Permanente 5-out-of-5 Star rating for 2022* provides Medicare-eligible people another enrollment opportunity through the 5-Star special enrollment period (SEP), which can be used once between December 8, 2021, and November 30, 2022. The 5-Star SEP is available to those on Original Medicare as well as those already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.
