Children 5 to 11 can now get a Pfizer COVID-19 booster

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommends a booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children 5 to 11. This guidance aligns with the recent FDA amendment of the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the vaccine. Children 5 to 11 should get their booster at least 5 months after they receive their first 2 doses of the Pfizer vaccine. Visit kp.org/covidvaccine for more information about the booster and kp.org/coronavirus for local updates. You can also call our 24/7 KP COVID InfoLine at 1‑877‑808‑9233 (available in English and Spanish) for recorded updates.

COVID-19 cases are on the rise in our communities, so getting vaccinated and staying up to date with booster shots is the best form of protection. It’s also important that everyone continues safe practices by washing hands, wearing a mask when recommended, getting tested when symptoms are present, and staying home when sick.
