Encouraging members to use Kaiser Permanente pharmacies and pharmacy mail-order services helps us provide high-quality care while remaining as affordable as possible.
That’s why we’ve begun removing some pharmacies from our network for Core HMO plans and Medicare Advantage HMO plans that don’t include Part D coverage. Access PPO and Options plans are not impacted.
Affected pharmacies are currently within 3 to 5 miles of a Kaiser Permanente pharmacy. Hours at our nearby pharmacies will be extended to align with the hours at the network pharmacies we’re removing.
We’ve notified impacted members about these changes and promoted use of our pharmacy mail-order services. Our Member Services team is also available to assist members in transferring prescriptions to Kaiser Permanente.
Please note in the current schedule below that removal of some pharmacies originally scheduled for this fall has been postponed.

What are the benefits of using Kaiser Permanente pharmacies?
- Our Kaiser Permanente providers and pharmacists can view members’ complete record of prescription use. This ensures members are treated safely, avoiding dangerous drug interactions and other safety issues.
- Our pharmacy staff works with our providers to prescribe less expensive generics when medically appropriate, saving our members out-of-pocket expenses.
- Kaiser Permanente can negotiate better drug prices in the national marketplace, which helps us offer more competitive prices locally.
Why mail order?
- Members can order their prescription refills online, by phone, or by using our mobile app and have them delivered directly to their mailbox.
- Orders can take up to 7 business days to arrive, but most arrive 3 to 4 days after ordering.
- For many members (depending on their plan), mail order lets them get a 3-month supply of prescriptions for only a 2-month copay.
