New Healthy Savings program addresses food insecurity

Kaiser Permanente recently launched a new program to help our members and communities fight food insecurities. The Healthy Savings® program is available at no cost to eligible participants through February 2022, even if their health coverage changes.

About 200,000 eligible individual and family members across all Kaiser Permanente regions received a mailing in November with information about the Healthy Savings program. The program, offered by Solutran, Inc., helps participants save money on healthy foods — lean meat, produce, dairy products, and other healthy foods — at more than 30,000 participating stores. Stores include CVS, Kroger, Safeway, Vons, Walmart, and others.

The program is currently in the pilot phase and is not yet accepting referrals or requests for inclusion from brokers, employers, or other individuals.

How does the program work?

Eligible participants receive a Healthy Savings card in the mail, which they can register via mobile app or website. Once registered, the card is loaded weekly with up to $80 in discounts for a range of healthy foods. Participants may also redeem retailer coupons for additional savings.

Program participants who have questions may visit or call 1-800-443-6328.
