A new vaccine developed by Janssen, a Johnson & Johnson company, has been approved for emergency use authorization by the Food and Drug Administration. Federal and state government health officials have not released detailed information on the distribution of the Janssen vaccine, but they expect supply to be limited at the start.
Demand for all 3 authorized vaccines will continue to outpace supply. For now, that means people eligible for vaccination will receive the type of vaccine available during their appointment.

We're following state and federal guidelines for vaccine eligibility. Starting March 17, individuals who meet the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) Phase 1b, Tier 2 eligibility criteria can be vaccinated along with individuals who meet Phase 1a and Phase 1b, Tier 1 criteria. Members should start a COVID-19 vaccine appointment e-visit. If they don't have access to a computer, they can call 1‑800‑352‑3610. - Appointment locations:
Kaiser Permanente has vaccination clinics at 17 locations in the Greater Puget Sound region and Spokane. Members can also be vaccinated at a vaccination site in their community. There will be no charge for Kaiser Permanente members regardless of where they are vaccinated. - Vaccine supply:
Kaiser Permanente is receiving vaccine supply each week, but supply is not keeping up with demand. We expect the supply to increase in coming weeks. - Appointment scheduling:
Scheduling can be a complicated process and we appreciate everyone’s patience while navigating the scheduling system. We remain committed to updating our employees, members, patients, and communities about who is eligible for vaccination and how they can schedule their vaccination appointment. - Appointment rescheduling:
Appointments sometimes need to be rescheduled because of lack of vaccine. If this happens, members will be notified, and their appointment will be automatically rescheduled.
