In May, 2022, all KPIF off-exchange autopay and pay-by-check members and mutual clients received a letter, followed up by emails and outreach calls, about changes to the Kaiser Permanente payment platform. We asked members to register with our new payment system at kp.org/payonline — and to update their premium payment options by July 1, 2022, to avoid payment interruptions. KPIF off-exchange members will no longer be able to make premium payments on https://healthy.kaiserpermanente.org/billpay after July 1, 2022.
By registering for the new online payment platform, KPIF members will experience more self-service features to make their billing experience easier. For example:
- Monthly payment reminders
- The ability to manage multiple accounts
To register, members will need a billing unit ID (BUID) which will be assigned to them and included in the upper right-hand corner of their notification.
Members who wish to stop receiving hard-copy premium bill notifications can opt out after setting up an account with the new payment system. Once they've signed up, members can call KPIF member services at 1‑800‑290‑8900, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a representative will change their delivery preference for notifications.
Off-exchange members who wish to continue paying their premiums by check will also be notified of a new mailing address to use:
