Over the past few years, members and mutual clients have told us they want access to more local fitness centers. In 2019, we will offer the fitness benefit through Silver&Fit®, so Kaiser Permanente Washington Medicare Advantage members will have a larger network of fitness centers to choose from. Most of the current SilverSneakers® fitness centers are also available within the Silver&Fit standard network.
Essential, Optimal, Vital, and Group Medicare Advantage members will also have access to the Silver&Fit Premium Fitness Network, which includes all Greater Seattle YMCAs and the YMCAs of Pierce and Kitsap counties, at no additional cost. Silver&Fit Premium Fitness locations will not be posted on Silver&Fit’s public site, but will be on its secure site as of January 1, 2019. Members eligible for the Premium Fitness Network can register at silverandfit.com or call Silver&Fit Customer Service at 1-877-427-4788 (TTY/TDD: 711).
Home Fitness Program
Members who prefer to exercise at home have the option of the Silver&Fit Home Fitness Program. This program includes:
- Healthy aging educational resources online or delivered by mail
- A choice of up to 2 home fitness kits per benefit year
- Use of the Silver&Fit Connected! program that allows members to sync and track activity from approved wearable fitness devices and apps. (Purchase of a wearable fitness device or app may be required and is not reimbursed by the Silver&Fit program or Kaiser Permanente.)
- The Silver Slate® newsletter, which provides useful information about health and fitness
Next Steps
During the month of October, active participants of the current SilverSneakers® fitness program will be sent a welcome letter with steps they will need to take to register with a participating Silver&Fit fitness center, even if it is a fitness center they currently use.
During November and December, Silver&Fit will be making outreach calls to all active participants of the SilverSneakers® fitness program to help them transition to the Silver&Fit program.
