Medicare-required certification training begins in August

Annual Medicare training and certification for Kaiser Permanente Washington is scheduled to begin on August 16. The program will cover:

Look for the program guide and registration information in an upcoming email from Kaiser Permanente Washington Producer Relations. Appointed producers must complete the required program by Friday, September 30, 2022, to represent our 2023 Medicare Advantage health plans on and after October 1.

If you're certified to sell 2022 Kaiser Permanente Medicare Advantage health plans:
You'll be preregistered for the 2023 program through Miramar:Agent. Those preregistered for the 2023 program will then receive an email from Convey Health Solutions notifying them when the program has gone live.

If you're not already certified for the 2022 plan year:
You will not be preregistered for the 2023 program. Please self‑register with the PIN code you'll receive in the program guide around August 16. Both preregistered producers and producers new to the program who request the training will also receive an additional email from Kaiser Permanente with important information on requirements as well as any program updates.

The Kaiser Permanente Washington 2023 External Certification program includes:

  1. Medicare core training; Fraud, Waste & Abuse (FWA); and General Compliance:
This is an online course (3 to 4 hours) that covers Medicare basics, enrollment, disenrollment, communication and marketing requirements, and other regulations for any Medicare health plan. Once registered for the Kaiser Permanente Washington 2023 External Certification program in Miramar:Agent, producers can choose to complete the Convey Core Medicare training and exam ($99) or upload an approved alternate 2023 Medicare core training certificate. Approved alternate certificates include:
    • AHIP
    • PinPoint
    • NAHU/NABIP
  2. The Medicare core training assessment requires a 90% or higher passing score within 3
    attempts.

If you’re uploading an alternate 2023 Medicare core training certificate:
The program will allow you to bypass the Convey Core Medicare training and assessment and move to the required Kaiser Permanente Washington product training module and assessment. However, program completion is dependent on Miramar:Agent verification of your certificate's plan year and authenticity. You can view the document approval status in the “Documents” tab of your Miramar:Agent dashboard.

  1. Kaiser Permanente Washington Medicare product training and assessment:
This is an online course (1 to 2 hours) that covers Kaiser Permanente Medicare products and benefits specific to the Washington region for the individual plan segment. For the 2023 program plan year, you must receive a score of 85% on the product assessment within 3 attempts to successfully complete the program.

Be ready to sell by October 1
Once Miramar:Agent has verified that the Convey Core Medicare training; Fraud, Waste & Abuse, General Compliance; and Kaiser Permanente Washington product training requirements have been met, you will see the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington (H5050) contract name, “2023” benefit year, and effective date listed in the “Ready To Sell” tab of your Miramar:Agent menu. Once you’ve confirmed the information above in your “Ready to Sell” tab, you may begin soliciting the 2023 Kaiser Permanente Washington Medicare Advantage products on or after October 1, 2022.

Our goal: 2023 sales materials will be available on October 1
We are aiming to have the 2023 Medicare Advantage sales materials ready for you by October 1, 2022, in advance of the annual enrollment period that begins October 15.
