I&F new enrollee bonus program extended

With the COVID-19 special enrollment period (SEP) now under way for individual and family (I&F) plans, and the recent Washington Healthplanfinder announcement that enrollment will be extended from May 15 to August 15, Kaiser Permanente will extend the new enrollee sales bonus program that was originally specific to January 1, 2021, new sales. The extended program will now include new individual sales on and off the exchange with effective dates between January 1 and September 1, 2021.

How the extended program works

Agencies that enroll a minimum of 30 new I&F members with effective dates between January 1 and September 1, 2021, will be eligible to earn rewards in the extended bonus program. Enrollees include both subscribers and dependents.

To qualify as a new enrollee:

  • They must not have been covered by Kaiser Permanente Washington the month prior to their effective date
  • They must have been enrolled for at least one month
  • They must have paid their premium for the period of time they’ve been enrolled.

See our program flyer for more details.

When are payouts scheduled for the bonus program?

The extended I&F new enrollee bonus program will conclude at the end of the day on August 15, 2021; however, the initial bonus payment will initially be determined based on new enrollment January 1 – June 1, 2021. Payment will be made to the producer agency during the September commission run. An additional payment for enrollment effective dates between July 1 – September 1, 2021, will be paid to the producer agency during the December commission run. This payment is for agencies who produce additional new sales that result in them moving to the next tier level, resulting in a payout of the difference.

For example: 45 new sales with effective dates between January 1 and June 1, 2021, would be paid $600 in September. An agency that adds 10 new sales with an effective date of July 1 – September 1, 2021, would move to the 51-99 bracket. The agency would be paid the additional $600 in December. This gives us time to ensure that all new individual sales with effective dates between January 1, 2021, and September 1, 2021 are included, taking into consideration the length of time new enrollees have to pay their first month’s premium.
